Breeders

This list contains breeders and pet stores who either currently sell short-tailed opossums, or who have bred/sold them in the past. All information listed is to the best of my knowledge, but may be old so be sure to double-check it.

I recommend potential short-tailed opossum owners try to find a short-tailed opossum to buy in their area, rather than ship to make as a calm a transition for your STO as you can. If possible, spend some time with them, handle them, get to see what their personality and health is like. Many people who gave their STO up for adoption later said they wished they'd handled a STO in person first before buying one. However, depending on location STO can be very hard to find and in those cases the only viable option may be to arrange for shipping.

No Longer Breed

Why list companies that no longer breed STO? People looking for STO may hear from word-of-mouth about a company and want to know if they still have STO. Others see breeders listed in literature and don't know it's obsolete.
