For Short-Tailed Opossum and Exotic Pets

Classified ads are often recent, or at least dated so you can tell how old the information is. They are also likely to list people giving away or trading their pet STO, in addition to professional breeders and pet stores. Some classified ads sites allow you to post either "for sale" or "want ad" posts, or both. Many include pictures.

Messages boards can be neat places to find discussions about short-tailed opossums, other owners or breeders. Some can be easily searched and viewed; others require a (usually free) registration to read or post. They are usually accessed from the message board, but some allow posts to be delivered through email.

STO are usually found in categories for pets that are "exotic", "small", or "other". They may be grouped in areas near sugar gliders. Care should be taken to make sure the opossums mentioned are short-tailed (Monodelphis domestica) and not any of the other opossums.

Classified Ads

Animal Focus Classified Ads: Offers a section of classified ads for "Pets" and "Exotic Pets". Many of these ads are over a year old, so check the info section for their date. Some advertise groups or organizations rather than specific pets.

Bravenet Classified Ads: A small classified ad sections for exotic and small pets, both selling and wanted. Appear to be mostly chinchilla ads so far.

Chins-N-Quills "Other Pet Classified Ads": The "Other Pets Classified Ads" section has included ads for STO. Requires a (free) registration for username/password.

ExoticHobbyist Classified Ads: The "Classifieds" section on this page has sections for exotic pets for sale, trade and adoption. There is a "Marsupials" section and "Other Small Exotics". Requires a (free) registration for username/password.

Exotic Pet Trader: There is a section for exotic pets.

Fauna Classifieds: Includes a classified section for "mammals" and "miscellaneous"; for sale, wanted ads and trades. STO ads have been in both the mammals and miscellaneous area.

Got Pets Online: Offers a "Pets For Sale" area with "Exotics" and "Small Pets". Allows for a search by animal, if there is nothing specific to opossums choose "other". Allows users to post pictures of their pets.

Hoobly Classified Ads: Offers free exotic pet classified ads. Includes a section for "Pets & Animals", then "Exotic Pets", then "Opossums". Some of the entries are for the North American Virginia opossum, but others specifically mention short-tailed. Requires a (free) registration for username and password.

I Sold My Pet: Offers pet classifieds ads, with sections for "exotics" and "small animals".

Monkey Ads: Contains a section for exotic classified ads "Pet – Exotic | Other". Extensive section. Ads are sorted alphabetically by name, so you may want to read through all the titles.

Pet Classifieds US: This site has a section for exotic pets and small mammals.

PetFinder: Not exactly a classified ads site, this is more of a rescue/adoption site but it does offer a large variety of pets and some exotics.

Pet Sell Ads: Offers a section for exotic pets.

Pet Pages Classifeds: They offers sections of ads for "Pocket Pets" and "Exotic Pets".

US Free Ads: Offers classified ads for exotic pets, including pictures.

Yahoo Classified Ads: Officially, the section appears to be called "Pet Supplies", but it looks like there are a lot of ads for actual pets, not just supplies.

Message Boards

This community has 250+ members, and features a message board, chat room, files and photos, links, database, polls and calendar. There are many STO owners and breeders who share information about their STO, and people interested in them.

An extensive online community for the exotic and small animal hobbyist. Exotic breeder listings, resources, classifieds, chat rooms, etc. Classified section for "Marsupials" plus adoptions and trades. In the Forums/Message boards there is a section for "Possums & Opossums". Can search for rescues/shelters for small exotic mammals. Extensive list of exotic events/shows. Pictures area for "Sugar Gliders & Other Marsupials". Requires a (free) registration username/password.
